Changan unveils Rp600 million Deepal SO7 SUV
Indonesia’s electric vehicle market has seen a new arrival in the form of the Changan Deepal SO7, an SUV priced at Rp600 million that merges upscale styling with practical family-oriented elements. Unlike many competitors that emphasize range or cost alone, the SO7 prioritizes a refined driving experience suited to contemporary Indonesian households. The segment now offers diverse options at this price point, but the SO7 distinguishes itself by combining futuristic design with smart technology tailored to modern mobility needs.
Setiawan Surya, CEO of Changan Indonesia, explains that modern buyers now focus on how well a vehicle fits their daily routines rather than technical specifications. The SO7 embodies this approach through its design, which blends sporty lines with futuristic details. Key exterior elements include frameless doors, flush pop-out door handles, and a powered tailgate, all contributing to a commanding road presence.
Inside, the cabin draws inspiration from luxury yacht interiors, featuring a floating-style center console, a 1.9 m² panoramic sunroof with an electric sunshade, and ambient lighting available in 64 colors. The wide-bodied proportions and 20-inch wheels further enhance its tech-sporty aesthetic. Even the rear seats receive premium upgrades, such as a touchscreen air conditioning control panel, wireless fast charging for electronic devices at 40 watts, and double-layer sound-insulating glass to ensure comfort for all passengers.
The SO7’s engineering matches its stylish exterior. A 160 kW electric motor (217 PS) and 320 Nm of torque enable acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, while the Golden Shield Battery provides up to 560 km of range per charge. The rear-wheel-drive configuration ensures balanced handling for both city commutes and longer trips.
Under the dashboard, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor powers the 15.6-inch Sunflower Screen and an AR-HUD with a virtual display measuring 55 inches wide. Safety systems are equally advanced, featuring 19 active ADAS functions, a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, and a 360° panoramic camera system for full visibility. The SUV also includes a 540° transparent underbody view to assist with maneuvering in confined areas, while the interior offers two color options, Shadow Black or Heatwave Orange, to complement the premium ambiance.
