Harley-Davidson unveils cruiser-style Sprint 440 for India

Harley-Davidson has released its first teaser for the upcoming Sprint 440, a new cruiser-style bike designed to complement its existing X440 roadster lineup. The Sprint 440 marks the brand’s push into India’s mass-market segment with a more traditional cruiser aesthetic, catering to riders who prefer classic styling over the neo-retro look of the X440.
The Sprint 440’s cruiser-focused design
The Sprint 440 abandons the X440’s roadster influences in favor of a more familiar Harley-Davidson cruiser layout. Key design elements include a circular headlamp, a pulled-back handlebar positioned higher than the X440’s, and oval rearview mirrors. The instrument cluster is circular and mounted higher with support brackets, likely improving visibility for navigation and controls.
Turn signals at both front and rear feature a circular design, while the fuel tank adopts a classic teardrop shape—paired with what appears to be a metallic-finish filler cap. The bike uses alloy wheels with cruiser-oriented tires, dual rear shocks angled differently than the X440’s, and a horizontally mounted exhaust pipe. The single-piece seat has a scooped rider section, and the overall stance suggests a more relaxed riding position.
A notable difference from the X440 is the seat height, which the teaser suggests will be lower, potentially improving accessibility for cruising. While the X440’s seat height is already competitive at 805 mm, the Sprint 440’s design hints at further refinement in this area. The bike’s switchgear and instrument console may also include exclusive features tailored to its cruiser identity.

Shared hardware with key adjustments
The Sprint 440 will retain the same 440 cc, air-oil cooled single-cylinder engine found in the X440, producing 27 bhp and 38 Nm of torque with a 6-speed transmission. However, the engine may receive tuning adjustments to better suit the cruiser’s characteristics. Fuel efficiency remains rated at 35 km/l, unchanged from the X440.
While much of the hardware overlaps with the X440, some components will differ to match the Sprint’s cruiser profile. The rear subframe appears redesigned, and the wheel sizing may shift further apart, unlike the X440’s 18-inch front/17-inch rear setup. The suspension setup could also vary, with the teaser showing the dual rear shocks positioned more aggressively than on the X440.
Like the X440, the Sprint 440 will be manufactured in India by Hero MotoCorp under Harley-Davidson’s alliance. The bike is expected to arrive by June 2026, offering buyers an alternative to the roadster-style X440 while keeping production costs in check through shared components.
