Banten factory expansion boosts chemical production capacity

PT Bintang Chemical Indonesia has launched construction on a new industrial complex in Cikande, Serang District, Banten, following an official ground-breaking ceremony. The development will house the company’s new corporate offices, a dedicated research and innovation center, production lines, supporting utilities, and specialized manufacturing equipment. The project is scheduled for completion in July 2027, with commercial production beginning the following month in August 2027.
The site selection in Cikande reflects strategic advantages, including established industrial infrastructure, dependable electricity and water supplies, direct access to major toll roads, and efficient distribution networks. Its location also optimizes the company’s supply chain by facilitating both raw material imports and the shipment of finished goods to markets. The area’s proximity to key industrial supply routes further enhances logistical efficiency, reducing transportation costs and lead times for both incoming raw materials and outgoing products.
The facility covers 10,800 square meters of land, with provisions for future expansion by an additional 4,000 square meters. The total built-up area will reach 5,324 square meters. Production will concentrate on four key product lines: automotive refinish paints, wood coatings, solvent-based decorative paints, and specialized industrial coatings. Once operational at full capacity, the plant is designed to manufacture 20,000 metric tons of coatings annually.

Local sourcing will be a priority, with initial Tingkat Komponen Dalam Negeri (TKDN) compliance set at 50-60%, increasing to 80% in later phases. During construction, the project will employ between 200 and 300 workers, while full-scale operations are projected to sustain 400 permanent positions in the region.
Environmental and workplace safety will adhere to national industrial regulations for waste disposal and hazardous materials handling. The site will incorporate wastewater treatment systems, full waste management protocols, and continuous monitoring of air and water quality. The facility will also implement a waste management system that includes wastewater treatment installations (IPAL), handling of hazardous and domestic waste, and regular air and water quality monitoring. Fire prevention measures will include proper storage and labeling of flammable materials, mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and fire suppression systems, including sprinklers and hydrants, designed to handle chemical risks.
