Lego returns for British Grand Prix parade

Formula 1 fans attending the 2026 British Grand Prix at Silverstone can look forward to a unique spectacle: the return of the Lego Drivers’ Parade. This event, a favorite among spectators, will feature every driver on the grid piloting their own Lego vehicle around the famous circuit. After the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, drivers will no longer be forced to share a car. Instead, everyone will have their own Lego vehicle.

A team of 20 designers, engineers, and master brick builders at Lego’s Kladno factory in the Czech Republic crafted a fleet of 22 F1 Lego go-karts. The vehicles boast regular go-kart mechanicals, capable of reaching speeds of over 15 mph. Each one boasts 28,000 Lego bricks, contributing to the total weight of 280 kg. The team developed and constructed the go-karts over 6,400 hours, highlighting the meticulous effort behind the endeavor.
Drivers will have a level playing field, racing in identical machines. This setup could lead to more competitive behavior, as there will be no excuse for blaming an underperforming car. Defending champion Lando Norris might have a slight edge, having previously lapped Silverstone in a McLaren P1 made from Lego.
