The production version of the McMurtry Speirling Pure was unveiled this week, just before its appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Design and performance highlights

Built in the Cotswolds, the Speirling Pure relies on two high‑capacity fans to produce up to 2,000 kg of downforce while the vehicle itself weighs only 1,350 kg. The fan system lets the car cling to the road – or even the ceiling – at any speed, a capability demonstrated by McMurtry last year when the prototype drove upside down.

Power comes from a dual‑electric motor setup rated at 1,000 hp. The combination of fan‑generated grip and electric torque enables cornering forces of around 3 g, both in turns and under braking.

Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph is claimed at 1.55 seconds, with a top speed of 190 mph. Unlike many electric hypercars, the Speirling Pure emits a sound likened to a jet engine, making its presence unmistakable on a track.

Technical upgrades and production plan

The new model is about 95 % new compared with earlier prototypes. A larger 100 kWh battery pack extends flat‑out running to roughly 31 miles at LMP2‑type speeds.

The interior is a single‑seat, racing‑style cockpit with a minimalist layout and a steering wheel that serves as the focal point.

Pricing starts at that amount, a figure that, while high, undercuts several track‑only hypercars from established brands. McMurtry says the car can be operated by a driver and a “competent friend,” though the seat is moulded to the owner and not intended for shared driving.

Initial orders have already been taken, and the first deliveries are slated for later this year. Production is limited to 100 units, with a plan to roll out the cars gradually.

Beyond the Goodwood showcase, the vehicle will appear at The Quail event in California next month, extending its exposure to North American enthusiasts.
